There is a wealth of information regarding financial aid programs and scholarships on the internet. Please be aware that you should not have to pay money to apply for a scholarship or the FAFSA. If a site is requesting money, it is a scam!

FAFSA – apply online for federal financial aid. The application will be open by December 31st, 2023. Refer to individual college websites for deadlines. You can also complete your FAFSA through the myStudentAid app:

​The CA Dream Act - AB 540 exempts certain students from paying nonresident tuition (higher than resident tuition) and allows them to apply for different types of California Dream Act financial aid. For local information for AB540 students, check out the AB540 Coalition of Santa Barbara. The Dream Act application will be open by December 31st, 2023.​

To complete the FAFSA, students and their guardians will need:

Your most recent federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)

An FSA ID to sign electronically. If you have not already done so, go to www.StudentAid.gov/fsaid to create a FSA ID before you fill out the FAFSA
