Private colleges and many scholarships require letters of recommendation. Note: UC/CSU does not require recommendations, or transcripts with their applications.  Counselors and teachers assist students with these recommendations, but we need your help as well.  In order for the person writing the recommendation to know you better, and write the best possible letter for you, please fill out the Letter of Recommendation Questionnaire (below in blue).  Please remember to share this with your recommenders  AT LEAST 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE.  Due to the numerous requests for letters that we receive, this two-week notice requirement is a firm deadline.

Please Note: Any recommendation or school report with a due date of December 19, 2022 – January 6, 2023 MUST BE GIVEN TO COUNSELORS AND TEACHERS NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2nd NO EXCEPTIONS!!   No one will be available to complete this information during winter break when many college deadlines occur. PLEASE HELP US HELP YOU BY BEING PROACTIVE AT THIS TIME OF YEAR.

  2. To help your counselor write their letter of recommendation for you, click on the Letter of Recommendation Questionnaire button above and make a copy of it. Please rename the document by adding your name to the title. Fill out the document and then share it with your counselor.

  3. Make sure to include information for your counselor that includes the names of the schools and the scholarships you are applying to and for, including the deadlines.

If your application is being completed via paper version, bring a large manila mailing envelope addressed with 2 stamps for the original application, and one regular addressed envelope with 1 stamp for the midyear report.  Teachers will need a regular sized envelope addressed with one stamp. Additionally, you will need to have your final transcripts forwarded to schools using Parchment (www.parchment.com).

  5. If your application is being completed online, you will not need to bring envelopes, but you will need to make sure that the electronic link is sent to the teachers/counselors email addresses in a timely fashion.

  6. Students using the Common Application will not need to send a transcript, as these will be electronically submitted by the counselors, free of charge!

  7. DEADLINES ARE IMPORTANT!!!
